The Healthcare Career Guide by the Department of Labor, found that 10 of the nation’s 20 fastest-growing occupations are healthcare-related. They are also predicting that almost 3.2 million healthcare jobs will be created by 2018 due to the aging population within the United States.

Another report, The Monster Employment Index, noted that online hiring demand rose in six of the 24 occupational categories in the Index. Healthcare support showed the highest level of increase in online job availability in December (source).

The demand for Registered Nurse Jobs continues to rise. As you can see from the latest Job Trends report from Indeed.com that Registered Nursing jobs has seen around a 50% increase over 2008 and 100% increase since 2005. As we see more Baby Boomers needing medical care, we are seeing a higher demand for qualified Registered Nurses in the healthcare industry.

With over 2.5 million registered nurses employed nationally the average salary ($66,950) comes in as the fourth highest paying in the healthcare job field. (Registered nurses in high demand as well-paying field continues to grow, Cleveland.com ). The Registered Nurse shortage is projected to increase to 12% in 2010 and get considerably worst in the next decade.
